MIKE SCHIERHORN
Program Director / Coach
Mike is a University of Florida graduate with a degree in International Business and a former Lake Park All-Conference player and North Central College basketball athlete. He brings extensive domestic and international basketball experience, including strong ties to the Asian basketball market through his work with professional and NBA players. Mike specializes in player IQ, physical readiness, and skill development. He also plays an integral role in driving the growth of West Irving through player recruitment, relationship building, and overall program direction, leveraging his extensive basketball network to create opportunities for players and the program.
Phil is a Judson University graduate with a degree in Small Business and Entrepreneurship, and he has been coaching youth basketball since 2006. Inspired by his son's passion for the game, Phil has become deeply involved in youth sports, helping players throughout the Chicago area develop their skills, confidence, and love for basketball. His coaching strengths include shooting development, ball handling, and improving player basketball IQ. At West Irving, Phil helps lead player evaluations, team development, recruiting, and overall program direction.
